The Croton Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver Reference 105 is a highly regarded multi-purpose watch from the 1960s, designed to cater to adventurers and professionals alike. This vintage model is celebrated for its versatile functionality, offering the unique ability to serve as a chronograph, an aviator’s tool, and a diver’s watch—all in one piece. The Reference 105 features a bi-directional rotating bezel, typically with a countdown scale, adding functionality for timing in aviation and diving contexts. The watch usually displays an eye-catching black dial with contrasting sub-dials for enhanced legibility, alongside a tachymeter scale around the dial’s perimeter.
Inside, the Croton Chronomaster houses a reliable manually-wound movement, often the Valjoux 92, known for its precision and robustness. With its 38mm stainless steel case, this watch is relatively large for the period, exuding a rugged aesthetic while remaining comfortable on the wrist. Notably, the Reference 105’s blend of style, history, and multifunctionality has earned it a place among vintage tool watches, making it an attractive choice for collectors seeking a distinctive and functional timepiece.
Todays example is in excellent unpolished condition. The dial is mint shaowing all matching pumpkin patina throughout. The Valjoux 92 is running excellent, keeping time and chrono functioning as it should. Here we have a beautiful vintage example in just stunning all around condition. We surely don't find them like this anymore!
