The Rolex Explorer reference 6610 is part of the iconic Rolex Explorer collection, known for its association with exploration and adventure. This particular reference was produced in the 1950s and is notable for being one of the earliest models in the Explorer line. The Rolex Explorer 6610 typically features the characteristics of a 3, 6, and 9 Arabic black Gilt Chaptering dial with radium hour markers and hands. The radium material on the markers and hands provides excellent visibility in low-light conditions, a crucial feature for explorers and adventurers.

This example is one of the earliest OCC "Oyster Certified Chronometer" gilt chaptering explorers. The dial has its original flat gilt radium hands. The second hand is lighter in patina and shows some flaking material. The original gilt chaptering dial has radium applied Arabic numerals and indices. The dial has aged to a warm matt finish and reads high on the Gieger counter. The dial glows very briefly when exposed to UV as it should and rapidly dies off. Case is very nice with thick even lugs. Original plexi shows internal wear from radium burn. The 6251 crimpled Jubilee bracelet with 55 end links is long, very nice and shows some stretch. The explorer is equipped with its original 1050 caliber with butterfly rotor and is keeping time. An overall very nice and original piece of Rolex history.
